Welcome Chris and Christina and see what they’re all about.

Chris Tucker, Marketing Research & Data Analyst

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a native Chicagoan, so I don’t put ketchup on my hotdogs. I love traveling, adventure, and continuously learning. Most of my professional experience has been in academic research with regard to environmental economics and sustainability. I geek out over interesting data insights and figuring out how to apply them to real problems.

What is something most people wouldn’t have guessed about you?

I spent 3 months living off the grid in a tent in the Hawaiian rain forest.

What is your favorite pastime or activity?

I have a few, but close to the top would be tinkering with vintage bicycles.

What would your last meal on earth be?

Really expensive prime rib dinner with lots of horseradish.

What are your favorite podcasts or blogs you like to follow?

I usually just search Twitter or Soundcloud for what’s hot in science, tech, cleantech, and economics, but some specifics include env-econ.net, c2st.org, and Andreesen Horowitz.

What inspires you?

Optimistic, hardworking, creative people; observing wildlife and the natural world; solving problems ingeniously.

If you could choose any trail around the world to trek through, where would it be and why?

I’d probably start with the Appalachian Trail but end up somewhere in India.

Other than the Instacart snacks, what do you like about working at Matchup?

The energy and buzz of brain power I feel in the office. Plus, the product facilitates healthy living, and ultimately a healthier environment.

Christina Devoney, Community Manager

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m from the great city of Chicago. I love being outdoors, listening to music, being with friends and family, and most importantly, laughing as often as possible. I’m a recent graduate with my degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. I also just completed the Startup Institute of Chicago’s sales and account management program. It’s an awesome 8-week program in which you get to learn all about startups and how they run from industry professionals. It’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made, and it brought me here to Matchup. I’ve met so many great people, learned so much, and got the chance to break into the startup-sphere of Chicago.

What is something most people wouldn’t have guessed about you?

I used to be a figure skater. From a young age, I participated in team synchronized figure skating. I got to travel the world competing, and even headed overseas to Sweden and the Czech Republic with my team to compete as Team USA.

What is your favorite pastime or activity?
My favorite pastime was when my friends and I went to Lollapalooza a couple of years ago for to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We got to see some of our favorite artists, including Mumford and Sons.

What would your last meal on earth be?

Is it awkward that I know exactly what it would be? Well, if you’ve ever been to Wildfire you’d know you can’t go without their parmesan crusted filet mignon and mashed potatoes.

What inspires you?

A lot of things inspire me. Nature, music, hardworking people and selfless people who go out of their way to help others even if they don’t know them.

If you could choose any trail around the world to trek through, where would it be and why?

Cinque Terre, Sentiero Azzuro, Italy. I’ve always dreamt of going to Italy and being able to hike through the blue trails along the waterfront. It would be amazing.

Other than the Instacart snacks, what do you like about working at Matchup?

The company culture is unbeatable. This crew meshes so well. It’s a fun and comfortable atmosphere where everyone is willing to help and there’s a lot of joking around. Everyone is so passionate about what they are doing that it makes you want to work 100x harder everyday. Matchup is a pretty awesome place to work.
