Reward Yourself on Chocolate Day

Reward Yourself on Chocolate Day

How many times have we tried to stay off desserts only to find ourselves heaping spoonfuls of nutella onto our plates, heads hanging in shame? Yes, chocolate is addicting. From late night chocolate runs to indulging during a diet, chocolate has made most of us commit unspeakable crimes.

Which is why something so powerful must indeed be celebrated! There are thousands of festivals around the world that solely dedicate themselves towards honoring this flavor to savor. Cooking workshops and tasting sessions are a must. Today, chocolate is honored to such a position that it demands the best events to commemorate its very existence.

Sweet Chocolate Events

The Chicago Fine Chocolate Show features artisanal creations from around the world. It showcases live demonstrations, chocolate seminars (did you ever think the word seminar could make you salivate?), and also has sessions on how best to pair wine and chocolate. And if you prefer to get your hands messy, the Annual Chocolate Conference is the place to be. The Kaua’i Chocolate Company hosts this event in Kaua’i, one of the few places in the world where the cacao bean grows in abundance. Guests can take field trips to local cacao farms, go on cacao trails and sample the beans.

However, it’s not just conferences and seminars where the appreciation for chocolate is celebrated. It’s invaded every field, including art! The World Chocolate Masters competition is the only one in the world that is committed to the art of chocolate. The theme of this year’s contest is ‘Architecture of Taste’, and winners hailing from 19 different countries will battle it out for the title of Chocolate Master.

So what happens when Parisian fashion meets Parisian chocolat? A fashion show, of course! The Salon du Chocolat in Paris actually has a chocolate fashion show. Chocolatiers and designers join forces to custom-make unique couture pieces that take pride of place on the runway.

The Top Festival To Attend

If you had to choose between the ‘brownest’ of them all, it has to be the EuroChocolate, an annual festival that takes place in Perugia, Italy. It goes on for nine days and attracts over one million tourists. The EuroChocolate gets a whole lot of chocolate brownie points for being immensely creative with their activities. For 2015, they have an ‘eat your mustache’ contest where guests can upload selfies of themselves licking away their chocolate mustaches. They are also working on the biggest chocolate mustache sculpture Guinness World Record!

For Your Itinerary

If you’re the type who’s not a big fan of attending festivals, why not visit the mother load of chocolate itself? Belgium is the top priority on every chocolate aficionado’s itinerary. More than 172,000 tons of chocolate are produced every year and a whole lot of tourist activities revolve around chocolate. From chocolate museums to tasting tours and more. It goes to a whole level of crazy with beautiful women parading around, completely covered in chocolate! At the chocolate festival in UK, guests have the opportunity to learn how to make the perfect bar of chocolate, how to make cocoa butter beauty products, and indulge in a bowl of southern chocolate chili.
On this Chocolate Day, make sure to reward yourself after a good workout with a sweet treat while planning your next chocolate-filled trip.
